As a not-for-profit, Headland Writers Festival is powered by the generosity and passion of our volunteers, and we’d love you to be part of it.

In 2026, we celebrate our 6th anniversary. From Friday 23 to Sunday 25 October, the festival will take over the heart of Tathra, transforming the village into a vibrant literary hub.

Across three days, audiences will gather for conversations, storytelling and performance with writers from across the country. Events will take place across our central venues — Tathra Hotel, Headland Theatre and Tathra Hall.

Volunteer applications are now open.

From poster distribution and ticketing, to stage management and media support, volunteers play a vital role in bringing the festival to life.

As a thank you, volunteers receive:
– A weekend festival pass (outside of volunteer shifts)
– An invitation to our Volunteers Wrap Party
